'Dancing With the Stars' cast visits 'GMA' ahead of premiere
Entertainment reporter Sandy Kenyon has the latest details.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The new season of "Dancing With The Stars" is set to premiere, and the new cast is excited. On Wednesday, they appeared on "Good Morning America" to discuss their personal journeys to the ballroom and their expectation for the season.

"I'm doing it for my mom," Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds said. "She passed away about three years ago, and I promised myself I'd do it."

Vanilla Ice and other members of the cast found a brief respite at Planet Hollywood before resuming their rehearsals.

Gymnast Laurie Hernandez won gold and silver medals at the Olympics, but will that help her win the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy?

"It definitely helps being flexible," she said. "I can move a little better."

For another member of team USA, the stakes are quite a bit higher. Ryan Locthe is looking for redemption after he was caught in a lie in Rio, falsely claiming he had been robbed.

"What happened is in the past," he said. "It's time to move forward and really just work on my dancing skills, what little I have."

This season marks the return of Derek Hough, who is paired with "Taxi" actress Marilu Henner.

Another TV icon in the cast is Maureen Mccormick, best known from "The Brady Bunch."

"It all feels like a dream right now," she said.

The new season of "Dancing With The Stars" begins with a special two-hour premiere on Monday, September 12 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
