NEW YORK (WABC) -- You know the Rockettes have the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, but now, they're working this spring with a new show.

"We're creating something that's hasn't been done before," said Derek Hough, a performer.

It's a kaleidoscope of entertainment.

"We're going to make it rain on stage! It's so much fun to tap in the rain and splash around and just get drenched," Hough said.

We've seen him "Dancing with the Stars", now Derek Hough is teaming up with the Rockettes and another familiar face, Laura Benanti from the hit show "Nashville".

"The first day I was dancing with the Rockettes, I was like, 'Can you excuse me?' and I went into the bathroom and had a tiny cry, and then came out and was like 'Ok! I'm ready to dance with the Rockettes,'" Benanti said.

They soon plan to wow audiences at Radio City, for the brand new production, "New York Spring Spectacular".

"There's ballet dancing and then there is sports, fashion, it really is like a love letter to New York City," Benanti said.

Derek and Laura will take you on whirlwind adventure across our city; and there are some incredible large scale puppets.

"The puppeteers are incredible and amazing, and the voices who play the lions are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler so they are hilarious," Hough said.

"They have over 500 crystals," said Alina Duncan, a Rockette, while describing one of their many costumes.

It's where you'll see a much different side of the Rockettes.

"This is different from the Christmas show and we've definitely modernized the way that you'll think about the Rockettes, the numbers are new and exciting," Duncan said.

The show promises to be one of a kind, just like the city it all happens in.
