WEST HOLLYWOOD -- A soap opera actor known for his role on the "Young and the Restless" was hit by a car and beaten by two suspects in the parking lot of a Rite Aid in West Hollywood on Thanksgiving.

Corey Sligh, 27, is recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being treated for multiple injuries, including a broken arm.

The incident occurred after the actor, who was with his girlfriend, told an alleged reckless driver who was speeding and doing donuts in the parking lot to slow down.

LAPD Detective Kevin Becker said two men were "driving, playing recklessly with their car" and that Sligh yelled at them to stop.

The motorist, identified as 26-year-old Dusan Lilic, then hit Sligh with his car. A male passenger, identified as 23-year-old Nikola Ilic, then got out and began beating the actor.

The suspects fled the scene but crashed their vehicle nearby. A witness helped police locate the suspects.

Nikola Ilic, 23, was arrested for battery. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Dusan Lilic, 26, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held in lieu of $85,000 bail.

Sligh and his girlfriend, Alissa Berhorst, were heading to Rite Aid to bring a Thanksgiving dinner to people they know who had to work on the holiday, according to a post on his Instagram page.

"I'm just truly thankful I'm alive," Sligh said.
