DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN (WABC) -- A baby was struck and injured by falling glass from a window Tuesday in downtown Brooklyn.

It happened at about 4:20 p.m. on Willoughby Street near the intersection with Lawrence Street.

You can still see a trail of glass on the street; some of it has been swept up and left in small piles.

There is a window missing from a doctor's office on the seventh floor of 81 Willoughby Street and you could hear that crash when it fell more than a block away.

"One big bang," a witness said.

"We're all the way across the street, it was kind of scary," another witness said.

It was more than scary for one mom who was pushing her baby in a stroller on the street there. Some of the glass, either as it fell or as it crashed and shattered, hit the stroller and cut the baby.

The baby was not seriously hurt, but was taken to the hospital to make sure. The glass had rained down on the subway steps as well, just as a commuter was coming up.

Police have secured the scene so they can clear the fallen debris.
