Selfie stick helps to save family in rip current

A GoPro on a selfie stick recorded a water rescue off the coast of Nantucket in Massachusetts.

A father and daughter found themselves caught up in a rip current.

In the video, you can see that the selfie stick actually helped save them.

The dad grabbed onto it to keep his daughter close to him as the waves tossed her around.

As their mom tried to help, she was swept out to sea too.

They say they didn't know if they were going to survive.

Luckily, a group of people, and eventually lifeguards, finally came to their rescue.

The family is now looking for the good Samaritans to say thank you.
