Fire in Yonkers leaves 2 dead

YONKERS, N.Y. (WABC) -- Two people are dead after flames tore through their home.

The heavy, three-alarm fire broke out around 11 p.m. Thursday on Hillcrest Avenue in Yonkers. Firefighters pulled an elderly couple from the second floor of the home.

They were taken to the hospital where they died. Two other people in the home were treated for minor injuries at the scene. About 70 firefighters responded at the scene.

The fire took three hours to bring under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
