BAYONNE (WABC) -- Two teenagers were among three people wounded in a shooting at a Father's Day celebration in New Jersey.
The shooting took place around 9 p.m. at a cookout in Mercer Park in Bayonne.
The victims were all taken to Jersey City Medical Center. A 15-year old boy and 21-year old man are in critical condition. Another 15-year old boy was treated for gunshot wounds to the feet and released.
The cookout was the 9th Annual Father's Day Cookout - during the day there were basketball tournaments and potato sack races. Organizers of the cookout say they have never had any incidents before this year.
Once it got dark out, people at the cookout thought they heard firecrackers, but realized the sounds they were hearing were actually gunshots coming from near the basketball courts.
Around 200 people were at the cookout at the time, and they started protecting any child in sight to make sure they were not struck by bullets.
Police were still on the scene investigating late Sunday night and were patrolling the area to make sure it was secure.
