Thieves break into bodega through wall

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Thieves broke into a bodega in the Tremont section of the Bronx through a wall shared with a vacant restaurant.

When the owner of the bodega at 605 East 180th St., came to open his store Thursday morning, he saw large hole in the wall and realized the store had been burglarized. The wall between the two storefronts is thin, investigators said.

Investigators went into the restaurant to see how the burglars could haven gotten into the vacant bar, but evacuated the building when they saw that the roof was weak and might collapse.

The burglars got away with $200.

No one was trapped in the building, reportedly, and none of the surrounding buildings was affected.
