Kraft Foods is recalling nearly 8,000 cases of its American Singles cheese slices.

Kraft says it's just a precaution after a supplier didn't properly refrigerate an ingredient used in the cheese slices.

The recall applies to Kraft American Singles in the 12-, 16- or 24-ounce size if it has a "best when used by" date of Feb. 20, 2015. In the case of the 12-ounce size, the date could also be Feb. 21. The dates can be found at the bottom of the package.

The package codes of the affected cheese all start with 0 21000 then have the suffixes 60464 7, 61526 1 or 63360 9.

People are being advised to return the cheese to the store where it was purchased.
