NEW YORK (WABC) -- If spring's cold weather has got you down, head to Harlem for an experience that will warm you up.

It's all about tea. And even if you're a coffee drinker, this shop will serve up something that may convert you.

America is very much a coffee culture, but at Serengeti Teas and Spices there really is something for everyone.

There are teas for all tastes and an owner who can create the perfect blend.

Doughba Caranda Martin sometimes sounds like a scientist while making tea. He actually is a biochemist by training, and he applies science to tea at his new shop in Harlem, Serengeti Teas and Spices.

"We want you to experience a palate sensation," Martin said.

That's pretty easy when you consider that Doughba stocks 400 teas and has access to 4,000.

He prefers tea from Africa where he grew up.

His family in Liberia was in the tea business and his grandmother taught him well.

"We farmed teas, so naturally over the years studying with her, learning the process, naturally got me addicted," Martin said.

You can see his passion at every turn.

You may want to order a pot on the spot.

If you don't know much about tea, Doughba can guide you.

You may call him a tea sommelier, but he's a bit more humble.

"I'm just a bushman that makes tea," Martin said.

And he serves that tea with a story.

"That story is in the cup, which is compassion care understanding love and joy, that's how we were raised and that's what we want you to experience," Martin said.

A cup of tea starts at $3.50. A pot starts at $4.50. And of course you can buy tea leaves to make tea at home.
