INWOOD (WABC) -- A homeless dog that lived in a New York City park for a decade has a new home.

Charlie, a shepherd mix, was recently rescued after living on his own in Highbridge Park and Inwood Hill Park.

He's underweight, so vets worked to restore his physical health and his emotional well-being after living in the wild so long.

They now believe he's ready to live in a home with a loving and patient owner.

Vets say the biggest obstacle Charlie faces now is that he is refusing to eat.

They hope his appetite improves in a quiet, home setting.
