GREENWICH VILLAGE (WABC) -- Police are still on the hunt Saturday for a suspect who followed a young woman into an apartment in Greenwich Village, and threatened to rob her with a gun.
The 24-year-old victim was followed into a 5th Ave. building elevator, where the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded she show him her apartment, which he planned to rob. When she told the suspect she did not live in the nearby building, the suspect then forced her at gunpoint outside and ordered her to follow him to a nearby ATM for cash.
However, as the two were waiting for a cab, the victim managed to break free from the suspect's grasp, and ran to a nearby store to call for help. Nearby surveillance cameras captured the suspect walking away empty-handed.
The suspect was also spotted near the West 14th Street and 6th Avenue Train Station.
Anyone with information about this suspect is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
