HARLEM (WABC) -- There was a special gathering in Harlem Tuesday night to fight the stigma of Ebola in the U.S.

Organizers of the free public forum claim Ebola cases in America have been met with racist fear mongering.

They say elected officials and some media have spread anti-immigrant panic instead of facts.

"We want to demand adequate Ebola health care, we want to demand real support for Ebola care in Africa, and our troops and not war, and money that's being spent for war to be spent for this crisis," one speaker said.

The event featured speakers from The Africa Ebola Crisis Committee.
