NEW HAVEN, CT. (WABC) -- There is a new way to make sure your kids are really eating their fruits and vegetables.

Researchers at Yale are developing a machine that scans your palm with a laser to measure the amount of carotenoids in your skin.

The level goes up if you eat a diet rich in fruits and veggies.

It could also be a quick and painless way for doctors to see if patients are following their diet advice.
