Will there soon be a solution to Hoboken's parking problem?
Joe Torres has the story.

HOBOKEN (WABC) -- What does it take to find a parking space in Hoboken? How about a little patience?

"I do this every day, I wait about a half hour to find a spot," says Hoboken resident Stephanie Guiler, "yeah, there's no parking."

To solve an age-old quality-of-life problem, city leaders hired a consulting firm to develop a parking master plan, and apparently not too many car owners were all that anxious to hear it. Eyewitness News counted 18 people at the meeting. Among them was Ira Landgarten.

"It is again a very pressing issue because there is limited space physically. And there is also really very limited space to even build any more garages," says Landgarten.

Among the short-term recommendations? To extend the city's parking meter hours and renovate the garages in the mile square city, and also to implement valet and shared parking. Long term recommendations include reserved parking spots for electric vehicles, zoned parking in neighborhoods and a price adjustment for a residential parking permit.

All of those changes and plenty more help James Conticello cut down the number of parking tickets he accumulates each month - that would be awesome.

"Again, you try to keep in under 300 bucks a month, and you're beating a garage, but it really is - the parking situation here is criminal, and it doesn't get any better.
