Protesters mark 'International Immigration Day,' voice concerns over Trump Administration

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Hundreds of people marked 'International Immigration Day' with a march in Manhattan on Sunday to voice their concerns with the incoming Trump Administration.

More than 60 organizations, unions, elected officials and community members were behind this effort.

The crowd had several demands, asking Donald Trump to, among other things protect immigrants from deportation and prevent the creation of a Muslim registry.

Carl Lindskoog from Teaneck was at the march with his 4-year-old son Justice, and told Eyewitness News he was in in it for the long haul.

"I just think you have to prepare to defend ourselves and our beliefs," Lindskoog said.

The group was peaceful, and once they arrived on Fifth Avenue, the large crowed spilled into an intersection, briefly bringing traffic to a standstill, frustrating many drivers.
