Teen pistol-whipped in Canarsie robbery
N.J. Burkett reports police are searching for a pair of suspects involved in a brutal beating caught on camera in Brooklyn.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police have arrested one suspect and are still searching for the second involved in a brutal beating caught on camera in Brooklyn, and authorities believe they are also responsible for other crimes in the same neighborhood.

The suspects stalked their 16-year-old victim on Avenue K in Canarsie and were then caught on camera brutally pistol-whipping him with the butt of a gun as they robbed him of his iPhone.

And it all happened in broad daylight.

It was the latest and most violent of three incidents that all occurred on April 1 in a two-hour time frame.

It started on East 86th Street, where a 13-year-old girl was attacked and robbed just before 4 p.m. Then, around 5:25 on Avenue J, a 20-year-old man was accosted in a robbery attempt. And minutes later, the teen was victimized a block away.

19-year-old Adrian Chambers is now charged with robbery and menacing in the attack on the 16 year old.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the second man, although the descriptions are vague. He is said to be in his late teens and roughly 5-foot-7.

The 16-year-old victim was not seriously injured, but neighbors say the attack is reason enough to be concerned.

Anyone with information about the cases is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
