HARLEM (WABC) -- There was a somber vigil in Harlem Thursday night for a teenager gunned down during a basketball tournament.

Family and friends gathered to remember 18-year-old Jordan Barber.

There was gunfire, screaming and chaos at the annual Rucker Basketball Tournament in Harlem and in the end an innocent teenager was killed.

Barber was one of several people shot Monday near the event.

He was just 18 years old, precious to his friends and family, dead now after a beef he wasn't even a part of.

"My cousin was just a cool kid, everybody loved him," said Shamell Johnson, the victim's cousin.

They wore photos of Jordan around their necks Wednesday night, and some couldn't even talk about it.

"I am not going to lie, I don't want to talk about it, I'll start crying," a friend said.

The annual Rucker Basketball Tournament was underway in the park across Frederick Douglas Boulevard, from the Polo Grounds Houses, so there were a lot of people out on the street enjoying the pleasant weather.

Jordan Barber, was with two friends, talking among themselves, when a group of young men showed up.

"This group came up, quite a few of them put their hoods up and one of the individuals fired into the crows striking Mr. Jordan Barber. Jordan Barber is a good kid from what everyone says," said Chief Robert Boyce, NYPD.

Jordan was with a group called "Fast Money Family", which the police say is a group of kids devoted to music.

"This is not a gang or a crew, this appears to be a hip hop group that's into singing," Boyce said.
