2 suspects wanted for assaulting man inside subway station in Union Square

Man struck in the head by train after subway station assault

UNION SQUARE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are searching for two suspects behind an assault inside a Manhattan subway station that put the victim right in the path of an oncoming train.

It happened at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday on the southbound Q train platform inside the Union Square station.

According to the NYPD, the suspects walked up to a 41-year-old man and punched him in the head, causing him to fall to the platform floor.

Upon falling, his head was struck by an inbound Q train.

The victim, Francis Christie, said he had just left a Christmas party and was heading home.

"I think some altercation came up," Christie told Eyewitness News.

He said he woke up in the hospital, not remembering anything about the attack.

He is now being treated for serious injuries to his head and face.

Police are searching for two men in a subway attack in Union Square.

"I've got some brain trauma and I have a bunch of staples in my head and my nose is just bleeding profusely," said Christie. "And I have some fractures around my eyes.."

Police have released surveillance video of the two men they're looking for. The NYPD describes them as an Asian man and a Hispanic man.
