MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS (WABC) -- A 68-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a tour bus in Upper Manhattan Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened just after 3 p.m. on West 113th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Morningside Heights.
The victim was a tourist from Spain who had been on the bus and got off. Authorities say the driver had to move the bus and struck her, making contact on the front passenger side.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The bus is registered to United Coachline out of Staten Island, which is a bus rental and charter bus company.
The accident happened right next to the Cathedral of St John the Divine and a few blocks away from Columbia University, where graduation was being held. It is unclear right now if the bus or victim were connected to either the church of the graduation event.
