1 dead ater fire rips through home in Morristown
Toni Yates has the details from Morristown.

MORRISTOWN (WABC) -- One person died and several others were displaced displaced after flames ripped through a multi-family home in Morristown Monday.



Flames started shooting out of the three-story home on Pine Street at 11:30 p.m., with several crews from neighboring towns responding.



Responders located an active fire to a multiple family dwelling with approximately five apartments and 11 people living at the residence at the time.



The investigation has revealed that the origin of the fire was from the lower level of the residence.



Kelly Smith, 31, died during the course of the fire. The Morris County Medical Examiner's Office has determined the manner of death as an accident.



At this time, the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature, and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office does not anticipate any criminal charges being filed.



Tenants and a few pets were rescued, but some of the pets inside the building were unaccounted for.



The home is gutted and considered a total loss.
