NEW YORK (WABC) -- The NYPD is tightening up security in advance of several big events in New York City, including the World Series, the Village Halloween parade, and the TCS New York City Marathon.
The city is deploying 1,800 officers, setting up thousands of barricades, and utilizing scores of undercover cops.
At the finish line of the TCS New York City Marathon, you could see all of the preparations underway for the big event.
With tens of thousands of people expected, officials want to make sure everyone has a good time, but also a safe time.
This is just one of several major events happening in New York City this weekend, and that means there's a lot of work ahead for the NYPD.
"We have a lot security challenges, but the department fortunately because of our size, because of our expertise, nobody's had more experience with World Series because of the winning nature of our teams," Police Commissioner William Bratton said.
Police Commissioner Bratton says this is what the NYPD does.
It's a security trifecta.
It starts with Game 3 of the World Series at Citi Field Friday night, with game 4 in Queens Saturday, and if needed another on Sunday.
But the World Series is just the beginning to a marathon weekend of large events.
Then add a massive Halloween parade marching through the Village Saturday night.
This year, there are added security concerns after an FBI warning about a potentially dangerous anarchist group that says it plans to ambush cops on Halloween.
NYPD officials they are monitoring the threat and they don't see any cause for concern.
"The group that's mentioned in that threat has no nexus to New York City in terms of its past involvements or past actions," said John Miller, NYPD Deputy Commissioner.
And then of course on Sunday, more than 50,000 people will be running in the TCS New York City Marathon.
Commissioner Bratton says this city is no stranger to hosting large "international" sports competitions.
"The marathon is just an extraordinary event in the city, like the US Open," Bratton said.
To top it all off, President Obama will visit Newark on Monday to talk about criminal justice, and will head to New York City afterward for fundraisers.
Police officials say they've got it all under control, but say to expect some traffic jams while the president is in town.
