10-year-old girl hit by police cruiser in Brooklyn

BROWNSVILLE (WABC) -- A 10-year-old girl is recovering in a Brooklyn hospital after being hit by a police car late Sunday.

The incident happened at New Lots Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard in Brownsville just after 11 p.m.

Investigators say the child walked out into the street against the light and was hit by a marked cruiser.

She is expected to be OK and is being treated at Kings County Hospital.

The officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation.
