NEW YORK -- Network with some of the best in the media industry!

Meet the media from the New York metro area and establish the relationships necessary for you to build your brand at Fair Media Council Connection Day, Oct. 23, 2015. The event runs from 7.30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Briarcliffe College, Bethpage, N.Y.

"The hallmark of Connection Day is bringing media and community together for a day of open dialogue and mutual understanding," said Fair Media Council CEO & Executive Director Jaci Clement. "This year, we'll include a media summit to address the rapidly changing local media landscape, which is especially timely with the proposed sale of Cablevision and the fates of News12 and Newsday."

FMC Connection Day includes nearly 20 breakout sessions, designed to provide networking opportunities with the media as well as the chance to pitch stories.

"The media, looking for sources and story ideas, want to find something compelling happening in the community," Clement said. "At every meet the media event we hold, three or four organizations end up in the news which otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity."

A special feature of the event will be an exclusive conversation between three long-time reporters: Newsday's Bob Keeler, The New York Times' Bruce Lambert and New York Post's Kieran Crowley. They'll take the audience behind the scenes, discussing stories they've covered and their impact on society.

The day's breakout sessions focus on a wide array of communication topics, including improving media relations, crisis management, current events, reporter roundtable discussions, branding and social media.
