Currency office in Plaza hotel in Midtown robbed

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police are looking for a suspect in the robbery of the Plaza Hotel.

Around 11 a.m. Monday, the suspect went to the Travelex Currency Exchange in the Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue and requested to purchase 500 Euros.

According to the New York City Police Department, when the employee began counting the Euros, the suspect held a black handgun and grabbed about 4,600 Euros from the employee's hand. He fled and was last seen walking east on West 58 Street.

The suspect is described as a black man who is bald, about 5 feet 9 inches and about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing glasses, brown shoes and carrying a black bag.
