MTA running extra service for Mets fans headed to Citi Field for the NLCS
NEW YORK (WABC) -- For Mets who are headed to Citi Field for the National League Championship Series, the MTA is ready.
They are running extra 7 subway trains, buses and LIRR trains to help make sure everyone gets to the stadium to cheer on the Mets.
The MTA will also provide service to Games 6 and 7, if they are necessary, on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25.
To avoid waiting in lines after the game, the MTA recommends customers buy round-trip LIRR tickets or MetroCard fares in advance.
New York City Subway
Fans can take the 7 train right to Mets-Willets Point, where service is provided 24 hours a day year round. The station is right in front of Citi Field on Roosevelt Avenue near 126th Street. After the games, New York City Transit will provide special super-express 7 trains timed to depart after the last out. After leaving the game, these trains stop at 61 St-Woodside, Queensboro Plaza, Court Square, and all four stops in Manhattan.
Before the game, MTA New York City Transit's "Train of Many Colors" will be rolling out to Mets-Willets Point this weekend carrying hundreds of fans on their way to root the Mets to victory over the Chicago Cubs. The strictly old-school, 11-car Flushing Line train is made up of IRT cars manufactured between 1948 and 1964. The varying color schemes represent several different eras in subway history, including the redbirds and the striking two-tone robin's egg blue and cream World's Fair colors. The train will leave 34-Hudson Yards at 6:30 p.m., making express stops to Flushing-Main Street.
New York City Buses
Three bus routes provide service to Citi Field.
The Q48 (East Elmhurst / Flushing) stops at 126th Street and Roosevelt Avenue, right in front of Citi Field.
The Q19 (Astoria / Flushing via Astoria Boulevard) and Q66 (Long Island City / Flushing via Northern Boulevard) both stop at 126th Place and Northern Boulevard, four blocks from Citi Field (eastbound) or 126th Street and Northern Boulevard, two blocks from Citi Field (westbound).

Long Island Rail Road
Bridge Reconstruction Would Impact Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson Branch Trains Oct. 24-25
The LIRR will provide convenient service every 30 minutes right to and from Citi Field before, during, and after the games via the Port Washington Branch. The LIRR's Mets-Willets Point station is just 19 minutes from Penn Station and 27 minutes from Port Washington. Fans traveling from Long Island on other branches can reach Citi Field by changing to Port Washington Branch trains at Woodside, just a five-minute ride.

From Penn Station Game-bound trains will depart Penn Station at :18 and :48 minutes past the hour starting at 3:48 p.m. Trains bound for Penn Station depart Mets-Willets Point at :06 and :36 minutes past the hour through 11:06 p.m., then 11:38 p.m., 12:06 a.m. and 1:06 a.m.
From Port Washington Branch Trains depart every half hour from all stations on the Port Washington Branch, beginning with a 3:39 p.m. departure from Port Washington. Eastbound trains making all local stops to Port Washington will depart Mets-Willets Point at :05 and :35 minutes past the hour until 11:05 p.m., then 11:37 p.m., 12:34 a.m. Saturday night / 12:36 a.m. Sunday night, and 1:33 a.m.
From S. Queens
& Long Island Use LIRR planning tools at MTA.info or the LIRR Train Time app to find a train from your local station bound for Woodside. Trains bound for the game will depart Woodside at :00 and :30 minutes past every hour starting at 4:00 p.m. Trains bound for Woodside depart Mets-Willets Point at :06 and :36 minutes past the hour through 11:06 p.m., then 11:38 p.m., 12:06 a.m. and 1:06 a.m.
Precise schedule details for Games 6 and 7, if they are necessary, would depend on the time of the games, but the frequency of trains would be similar to Games 1 and 2. Because of work related to the reconstruction of the Ellison Avenue Bridge in Westbury, trains on the Ronkonkoma Branch and Port Jefferson Branch will not operate between Hicksville and Mineola on October 24-25. The LIRR recommends that customers of these branches consider taking the Port Washington Branch or Babylon Branch as an alternative.
