Uniondale man charged with violent murder of toddler he was babysitting

UNIONDALE (WABC) -- A man from Long Island was arraigned on Monday in the October murder of a 19-month-old child he was caring for, while the child's mother went to work.

26-year-old Lord Pardo of Uniondale was charged with 2nd degree murder and manslaughter.

Pardo was babysitting the toddler, who he is not related to, along with Pardo's infant daughter. The toddler was severely beaten, and suffered from massive internal bleeding as well as other injuries. The toddler was taken to North Shore LIJ Syosset Hospital, and was pronounced dead.

After an investigation, Pardo was arrested a short time after. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
