Police K-9 dog killed in raid on terror suspects in Paris identified as Diesel

PARIS (WABC) -- Police in France have identified the K-9 dog killed in the police raid on terror suspects in suburban Paris Wednesday.

Diesel was a 7-year-old Malinois, also called a Belgian shepherd dog.

In a post on Twitter, French police say diesel was "killed by terrorists in the ongoing operation."

It's believed the dog was the first to go into the apartment where it was believed terrorist suspects were hiding out.

According to unconfirmed reports, Diesel died when a female suspect wearing a suicide vest blew herself up.
