Mayor Bill de Blasio's hernia surgery successful

NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio underwent outpatient surgery Friday for a hernia.

The surgery addressed a hernia that developed recently, according to the mayor's press secretary Karen Hinton.

The mayor was discharged from the hospital and is now resting at Gracie Mansion.

He is taking the weekend off to recover, but will be back at City Hall Monday morning.
