Study: possible link between gum disease and breast cancer

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A new study found a possible link between gum disease and breast cancer.

The study suggests middle-aged and older women with gum disease are more likely to develop breast cancer than those without gum disease.

Researchers in Buffalo say the risk increase was most pronounced for women with gum disease who smoked cigarettes or had quit smoking within the past 20 years.
