Police: Nanny-cam recorded babysitter assaulting infant in Brooklyn

BOERUM HILL, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A babysitter is facing assault charges in Brooklyn, accused of abusing a 6-month-old baby.

36-year-old Elena Bass of Staten Island is charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say she violently removed the baby girl from a crib in the family's home in Boerum Hill last week and slammed her into a chair.

According to investigators, the incident was captured on a nanny-cam placed in the home by the infant's parents.

Bass was arraigned and released without bail. Her next court date is Feb. 4.

The judge ordered three orders of protection for the baby and her parents.
