Long Island teen accused of painting swastikas, charged with hate crime

ROCKY POINT, Long Island (WABC) -- A Long Island teenager is facing hate crime charges after police say he spray painted swastikas in several places.

18-year-old Christopher Collins was arrested Friday afternoon following a report of graffiti on two vehicles on Clio Road in Rocky Point.

Further investigation revealed the surrounding area had more graffiti including swastikas.

After a canvas of the area, detectives arrested Collins, of Rocky Point.

Suffolk County Police say Collins spray painted swastikas on a house and a retaining wall on Garden Road in Rocky Point.

He also spray painted graffiti on a house on Locust Drive and on street signs on Locust Drive and Clio Road, authorities say.

Collins was charged with two counts of aggravated harassment 1st Degree, and five counts of making graffiti.
