BROOKLYN, New York (WABC) -- An impatient off-duty and now-retired New York City correction officer was arrested after police said she threw a cash register to the floor because a Brooklyn store clerk was taking too long ringing up her purchases.
Police said Joyce Fields, 48, threw her merchandise on the floor and then knocked the cash register to the ground.
At one point she threatened the clerk, saying "I'm the f---ing police."
Fields was charged with criminal mischief and criminal impersonation of a police officer. She was arrested Thursday afternoon.
Investigators said she did $250 worth of damage to the cash register.
The clerk was not injured.
Fields retired as of April 28, 2016, according to the Department of Corrections.
