Search for suspect continues in fatal hit-and-run of teen in Queens
Carolina Leid has the story.

ROSEDALE, Queens (WABC) -- Police are searching for a van that fled the scene after a 16-year-old girl was fatally struck in Queens.

The victim was struck while crossing Sunrise Highway at Francis Lewis Boulevard in Rosedale just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.

The van, possibly a dark colored van, did not stop and fled east on Sunrise Highway.

A dark van, with front-end damage, was discovered abandoned on Mill Road in Valley Stream.

But police determined it was not the vehicle involved, and are still looking for the van that hit the teen.

Eyewitness News reached out to her relatives, but they said they need privacy as they mourn this loss.

Residents say it's a very dangerous intersection that police constantly monitor.

No arrests were immediately made and police are investigating.
