JERSEY CITY, N.J. (WABC) -- A 16-year-old boy who was shot in the head in Jersey City early Wednesday morning has died from his injuries.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said police were called to the area of Monticello and Belmont avenues at about 12:30 a.m. after someone reported that gunshots were fired nearby. Officers found the boy, Ronald Witherspoon Jr., of Jersey City, with a gunshot wound.
Witherspoon was taken to Jersey City Medical Center in critical condition, and he died Thursday.
The prosecutor's office is investigating the crime, and no arrests have been made in the case.
