19 juveniles and one adult have been charged in a sexting investigation in Cape May County.

LOWER TWP., N.J. -- 19 juveniles and one adult have been charged in a sexting investigation in Cape May County.

Cape May County authorities say the investigation centered in the Lower Cape May Regional High School and the Richard M. Teitelman Middle School in Lower Township.

According to the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, school officials were were alerted on April 23 by a female student that naked photographs of a friend were being texted to male students around the school.

School officials notified authorities who began their investigation.

During the course of this investigation, authorities seized and analyzed 27 cell phones.

Officials say nude and partially nude photographs of female students were being exchanged between male students through text message and social media.

As a result of the investigation, 19 juveniles and one adult were charged with Invasion of Privacy, a crime of the third degree.

The adult could face three to five years in State Prison. The juveniles could face up to two years in the Training School.
