ROSEDALE (WABC) -- Police believe they have caught the two armed carjackers who have been wreaking havoc all over Queens, leaving a trail of terrorized drivers.

Sandra Basdeo was coming home from work at 3 a.m. Sunday when she saw police all over her block.

What Basdeo didn't realize then were that police were chasing a string of armed carjackings overnight in Queens. Two men would rob drivers of their cash and cars, then ditch the vehicles a short while later as they found another victim.

All of the carjackins took place in Queens within the 103rd, 105th and 113th precincts. The criminals carjacked everything from a Mercedes to a Toyota.

For 20-year-old Matthew Kelly, it was way too close to home. He had just returned from work, and got inside his house when his neighbor got carjacked.

Police report there were six incidents overnight, and another two last week, which fit the same pattern.

Two 23-year-old men have now been arrested.

The last attack happened outside of a diner. Authorities report a woman ran in to get food only to come out and discover her driver had been robbed of almost $3,000 cash and her Mercedes.

It is not clear when the victims will get their vehicles back and how much cash will be returned to them.
