NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Delaware State Police say the pilot and a passenger were rescued from a single engine plane that wound up in the Delaware River.
Delaware State Police say air traffic controllers at the New Castle County Airport reported around 10:45 a.m. Saturday that they had lost contact with an aircraft.
The pilot says he experienced a problem shortly after leaving Wilmington Airport.
He managed to land the plane down in a marsh.
They were rescued by the Delaware police chopper as they stood on the wings of the plane.
Both victims were flown to Fort Mott State Park where they were evaluated by Pennsville EMS crews.
They did not have any life-threatening injuries.
