29 residents of Edison shelter return home after being sickened

EDISON, New Jersey (WABC) -- All 29 residents who left a shelter in Edison, New Jersey to get checked out at a hospital have returned home.

The residents of Oznam Family Shelter were taken to a local hospital for treatment earlier on Monday.

After medical evaluation, the residents were said to be experiencing gastrointestinal issues.

Earlier Monday, the Diocese called the township's health and fire departments to the shelter Monday morning to investigate the cause, which was originally thought to be high carbon monoxide levels.

The shelter was cleared by the fire department and there is no carbon monoxide issue there, according to the Diocese.
