Dire need for blood donations in Westchester due to 'national blood emergency'
Joe Torres has more on the call for people to donate blood in New Rochelle.

NEW ROCHELLE, New York (WABC) -- New Rochelle police and firefighters are urging people to come out and donate blood on Monday in Westchester County.

A blood drive is being held at the American Legion Post 8 on 112 North Avenue starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m.

The Red Cross says it is experiencing a national blood emergency and it is having trouble providing hospitals with the amount of blood they need
