4, 5 train subway service restored between Brooklyn and Manhattan following power issue

Power issues that caused major issues on several subway lines that run between Brooklyn and Manhattan have been resolved.

Service resumed just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

The MTA said the power problems affected a signal device in the Joralemon Tube.

Con Edison said a transformer fire knocked out the line providing power to the signal, and workers were getting a generator in place to provide backup power.

The lines affected were the 4 and 5, with delays also on the 2 and 3.

At the time, the southbound 4-5 trains were terminating at Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Bowling Green. This service is back up and running again.
