NEWARK, N.J. (WABC) -- A young boy was found wandering in Newark overnight.
The 4-year-old boy was found by police at Central Avenue and South 12th Street around 3:20 a.m.
Newark Police received a call from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey that the child was wandering by himself. When they arrived, they recognized him as he had been found wandering in the streets previously.
At the child's home on Ninth Avenue, their mother said she had been looking for her son. She said she woke up to find that he had slipped out while she and the rest of her children were asleep.
New Jersey's Division of Youth and Family Services have been notified.
The investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed.
