NYC begins "Tree-cycling" program for Christmas Trees

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Starting Monday, New York City will begin its annual Christmas tree recycling program.

The Department of Sanitation will pick up Christmas trees left on the curb.

Those trees will then be chipped, and made into compost and mulch to be used at parks and gardens throughout the city.

Last year's "Tree-Cycling" program picked up more than 160,000 Christmas trees.

The program runs through Friday, Jan. 16th.
