Teenager accused of impersonating NYPD officer at Long Island bar

ROCKVILLE CENTRE (WABC) -- A teenager was arrested on Long Island on charges of impersonating a police officer.

According to detectives, Matthew Ettlinger, 16, Schnecksville, PA, was at a bar in Rockville Centre Friday night when he approached the manager, identified himself as a police officer and then produced a shield case with an NYPD identification card.

The manager called the Rockville Centre Police Department to notify them and advised them that the suspect had left and gone to another bar.

Police officers located Ettlinger on Park Avenue, where he then identified himself as a police officer, authorities say.

He was found to be in possession of a forged NYPD identification card with his photo affixed and a shield number printed on it, a forged NY State Drivers License, a forged Colorado Driver's License and two forged credit cards.

Ettlinger is being charged with two counts of Criminal Possession Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and False Personation.
