Garbage truck skids on ice, slams into South Brunswick, New Jersey gas station

SOUTH BRUNSWICK (WABC) -- Icy driving conditions led to an accident in New Jersey Monday morning, where a garbage truck hit a gas station.

The crash happened at about 7:15 a.m. in South Brunswick.

Police say the truck slid on ice and slammed into the Raceway gas station on Route 1 North.

The station sustained damage, but there were no injuries.

Police said icy roads resulted 14 crashes in South Brunswick, with conditions remaining hazardous.

Elsewhere in New Jersey, there were several accidents on the New Jersey Turnpike Monday morning in the vicinity of Exits 8 and 8A.

By mid-morning, New Jersey State Police said they had responded to 78 reported crashes and 95 motorist aids in State Police patrolled areas since midnight.
