Man beaten to death in Long Island City after trying to hail a livery cab

QUEENS, N.Y. (WABC) -- A 32-year-old man was beaten to death by two men in a car in Long Island City.

The victim was walking out of a bodega with friends around 2:30 a.m. He tried to hail a car, thinking it was a livery vehicle, but instead sparked an altercation with two men inside.

He was badly beaten on the head. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects fled the scene and no arrests have been made.
