PALISADES PARK, N.J. (WABC) -- Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire Thursday night at a house in Palisades Park, New Jersey.

The fire broke out at about 5:45 p.m. on the second floor of a three-story home on 9th Street.

The blaze was under control within an hour, but led to a partial collapse inside the home.

Firefighters rescued one man inside the house who was sleeping when fire began.

One firefighter was overcome by smoke and fell from a stairwell. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Several other towns assisted the Palisades Park Fire Department, including Fort Lee and Leonia.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Palisades Park firefighters also responded to a separate fire less than 1 mile away at 128 Broad Avenue, a commercial building, at around 7 p.m.

No one was inside at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries.
