6 taken to hospital after pepper spray discharges in Harlem school

HARLEM (WABC) -- Six people were taken to the hospital and 10 others evaluated after pepper spray somehow discharged at a school in Harlem Thursday.

The incident happened around 2:40 p.m. on the second floor of PS 92, which is located at 222 West 134th Street.

EMS evaluated 16 students and teachers at the scene who inhaled the pepper spray. Six were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries, while 10 refused medical attention.

Police and the Department of Education are investigating.
