MORRIS PARK (WABC) -- An alleged con artist in the Bronx is accused of scamming would-be renters out of thousands in security deposits.

23-year old Monessa Samuels faces grand larceny charges.

Investigators tracked her down after she allegedly got the keys to an apartment in the Morris Park section last month, showed it to three potential renters, and then pocketed nearly $6,000 in cash.

Police say she posed as a real estate agent after the victims obtained the ad on Craigslist.

All three victims were unable to contact the real estate broker and were unable to get their funds back.
