BROOKLYN, NY (WABC) -- Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping on Flushing Avenue in Brooklyn just after 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The victim is an 11-year-old boy who claims a man tried to lead him off into a building.

The victim was able to flee and return home, where his parents called 911.

Police say the boy was waiting for school bus, while standing on the sidewalk, when an unknown male reached from the rear of the victim and lifted him up on his toes.

After the victim fled, the subject ran across the street towards the Marci Houses.

The boy ran north on Lee to Lynch Street, where he cried out to his school bus driver.

The driver then drove to Flushing Avenue and, seeing the suspect, asked him why he tried to take the boy.

The suspect then fled into the housing development.

Police are still searching for him.

The victim was taken to the Brooklyn Child Abuse Squad.
